Courtney leads the firm's analytics and research practice. A psychologist by training, he has spent his career applying rigorous statistical method to complex human systems — designing studies, building and interrogating large datasets, and turning quantitative evidence into decisions that stand up to board and regulatory scrutiny.
His research career spans senior analytics and research roles in large public systems, the design and delivery of large-scale survey programmes, a body of peer-reviewed published research, and university lecturing in research methods — including supervising research to doctoral level. He is Six Sigma Green Belt trained.
His background in psychology shapes how the firm examines organisational culture: the beliefs, incentives and behaviours that determine whether a transformation embeds or unwinds are measurable, and Courtney brings the same empirical discipline to them that he brings to any dataset.
He has also stood on a bank's front line himself — five years in sales and service roles at National Australia Bank — so he knows first-hand how head-office change actually lands on the branch floor.
